If you are reaping benefits from fish oil for your body and you want to continue taking it, you will have to supplement it with zinc tablets of around 15 to 30 mg per day. You may also have to check that your body is not getting depleted of omega-6 fatty acids. Warnings signs include menstrual irregularities, dry skin, and hair, loss of hair, or brittle nails. If you see any of these, it’s a red flag of omega-6 depletion, and you will have to take steps to correct that.

Some people raise the question if taking fish oil for acne is a good idea? Well, there are few studies which have shown fish oil reduces inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne in some subjects, but these results are, at best, inconclusive. However, for women suffering from hormonal imbalances, fish oil does help acne by bringing omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acid ratios into balance. So, if you are suffering from any of these conditions, it won’t hurt to give fish oil a try.

You will derive significant benefits from introducing fatty fish into your diet or starting fish oil supplements. However, it is best to go slow in the beginning and observe closely how your body is reacting to these changes. On the other hand, if you find your existing pimples disappearing as a result of starting fish oil, you know fish oil has a beneficial effect on your acne.
